O&O Vehicle Engineering is headed by Richard Moore. Richard has had over 30 years experience as a motor mechanic but his knowledge extends far beyond that.
Richard had a good idea at a young age he would become a mechanic. At the age of 8 he had stripped down his first engine and gearbox and at 12 he borrowed a book from the library to teach himself how to race tune an engine! In time Richard got his first job restoring Vintage cars and then moved to tuning Jaguar engines, worked as a Peugeot specialist, a Land Rover specialist and even repaired HGVs.
With over 30 years of experience in the motor trade Richard has become more than just a mechanic, he has become a true vehicle engineer. He diversified into a ‘desk job’ with a well known local firm where he was instrumental in the design and development of their engine management fault code reader, as well as providing technical back up for the product. Needless to say we do provide an electronic diagnostic service at O & O Vehicle Engineering!
But a desk job just didn’t fulfill his practical side and he moved on to become a race mechanic with a local team. Traveling around the world from France and Germany to Bahrain, Richard provided mechanical and race set up support for classic, challenge and road car Ferraris, and for the historic Aston Martins and vintage Lotus, Elva and Coopers. As with most vintage and hand built cars no part ever fits properly so bespoke parts had to be engineered or alterations made to provide a good fit.
The end of 2008, however, was a daunting time for Richard. Having worked at a nearby 4x4 and Land Rover specialist for many years the imminent closure of the business meant that he knew that January 2009 would bring the launch of his own business, O & O Vehicle Engineering, in the premises at Henstridge, Somerset.
With an extensive client list Richard can provide an honest service to his customers supported by a wealth of knowledge. Land Rovers are our passion and re-builds, engine changes, galvanised chassis and/or galvanised bulk head fittings are becoming common place!!
